La Reina de la Sabana

The ceiba is known in Cuba as the Queen of the savannah.

This tree is considered sacred by practitioners of the Afro-Cuban religions. When the African slaves were brought to the island, the only tree family of their sacred Baobab, was the ceiba. Therefore, wherever a ceiba stands in Cuba, it is often subject of religious expressions.

It is a beautiful and imposing tree.
